I tested the MeinL HCS Ultimate Special Set which I recently bought.
I set up 8 microphones to capture everything and wrote / recorded a backing track to play drums to.
Overall, I'm pretty impressed with these cymbals. The crashes sound a little cheap. But to be fair, that's what they are. The bell is definitely my favorite of all cymbals. The trash-crash coming in at a close second. The HiHat and Ride also are nothing to complain about. I'm not a fan of the small china, but overall it's a pretty sweet set.
Afterward, I went back to my Evans DB one Drum heads and the Millenium Silent Cymbals to not disturb my neighbours. I also recorded a demo with that set.
I recorded some Drum Recording Tips for a friend.
It also helped me figure out what I might want to show off in a fully fleshed out YouTube video.
I plan to record and upload a free masterclass for writing and recording metal. This video was the first step toward preparing for it.
I've been preparing my bands backing tracks, and simplifying our setup for an upcoming gig at the Metal Cafe Lörrach.
We are the opening band, playing 30-35 minutes of our heaviest songs for an audience that has seen many bands perform before. It's important that we deliver a good show and have everything working.
I have been working with a local band to produce their first album.
Drums and guitars are recorded. Next is bass, cello and tambourine. Then mixing is in order.
It might take another month or two until this album sees the light. The thing is, it might not get published online. Tonwerke is a very oldschool band, selling their music on CD and making a name for themselves by playing as many shows as possible.
Perhaps I'll get permission to upload a song or two on my channel.
